Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
