The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
