The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
