Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
