The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
