The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
