The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the declining star, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
