The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
