The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
