And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
