The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
