He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
