The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
