The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
