The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
