The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
