The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
