The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
