Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
