The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
