The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
