Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
