The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 has created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
