Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
