When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
