The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
