The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
