Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
