The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
