And to (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you. Lo! this is the camel of Allah, a token unto you; so let her feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you. 73 And remember when He appointed you successors after Ad, and lodged you in the land, taking to yourselves castles of its plains, and hewing its mountains into houses. Remember God's bounties, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption.' 74 The chief of those who behaved proudly among his people said to those who were considered weak, to those who believed from among them: Do you know that Salih is sent by his Lord? They said: Surely we are believers in what he has been sent with 75 Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers." 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." 77 So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them in their habitation fallen prostrate. 78 So Salih left them, saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good counsellors!" 79 And (remember) Lout (Lot), when he said to his people: "Do you commit the worst sin such as none preceding you has committed in the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)? 80 You engage in lustful activities with people instead of women. You have become transgressing people. 81 Their only answer was: 'Banish them from your town. They are a people who pretend to be pure.' 82 And We rescued him and his household, save his wife, who was of those who stayed behind. 83 And We rained a shower (of stones) upon them; therefore see what sort of fate befell the culprits! 84
