But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 and these satans hinder them from the Right Path, while he still reckons himself to be rightly-guided. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Can you make the deaf to hear, or show the blind, and those lost in clear error, the way? 40 We shall punish them whether We take you away, 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 It is a (source) of greatness for you and your people. You will surely be questioned about it. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
