And recall what time thy Lord called unto Musa, saying: go thou unto the wrong-doing people. 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 “I therefore went away from you as I feared you – so my Lord commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Messengers.” 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
