The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
