The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
