The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
