The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
