Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
