The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
