And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
