The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
