Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the clear Book, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That ye mount firmly on the backs thereof, and then may remember the favour of your Lord when ye mount thereon, and may say: hallowed be He Who hath subjected this unto us, and we for it were not fit. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
