(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 who desires to expel you from your land by his sorcery; what do you command?' 35 They said, "Hold him and his brother off for a while 36 to bring every knowledgeable sorcerer' 37 And so the sorcerers were assembled at a set time on a certain day, 38 And it was said unto the people: Are ye (also) gathering? 39 so that we may follow the magicians if they become victorious? 40 So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?" 41 'Yes, indeed' he answered, 'and you shall become among those who are near stationed' 42 (Moses) asked the magicians, "Cast down what you want to". 43 So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" 44 Therefore Moosa put forth his staff – so it immediately began swallowing all their fabrications. 45 Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, 46 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds: 47 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 48 He (Pharaoh) said: 'You have believed him before I have given you permission. He is the chief of you who has taught you sorcery. But you shall know. I will surely cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and crucify you all.' 49 They said: "We do not care, for we are bound to return to our Lord, 50 We are eager that Our Lord should forgive us our offenses, for we are the first of the believers' 51
