The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He has created man: 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
