The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Beneficent 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
