The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
