Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
