۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
