The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
