Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven becomes cleft asunder, 1 when the planets are scattered, 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 when the tombs are overthrown, 4 the soul shall know what it has done, the former and the latter. 5 O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee. 8 Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! 9 And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 who know whatever you do. 12 Surely the virtuous shall be in Bliss, 13 And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire, 14 roasting therein on the Day of Doom, 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 And what will make you realize what the day of judgment is? 17 Again, what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice! 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
