He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
